Gala Raises Funds for Local Breast Cancer Survivors
The Care Project Woman of Excellence award goes to Senior Vice President, Area Manager – Kaiser Foundation Hospitals and Health Plan – Riverside County Area, Vita Willett.
Riverside, Calif. – The CARE Project Inc. (TCP) hosts its annual Fundraising Gala, An Evening of Caring. The Gala is a celebration of life and breast cancer survivorship. The evening includes dinner, dancing and the 2018 Excellence Awards
The Gala is Saturday, September 29 at the Marriott Grand Ballroom at 3400 Market Street in Downtown Riverside. The Gala begins at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are $100.00 per person and go on sale August 1st at https://tcpgala.eventbrite.com. The Care Project Man of Excellence award goes to Riverside Police Detective and Founder of the Raincross Boxing Academy and Generation of Action Internship, Mario Dorado.
TCP excellence awards honorees include: The Man of Excellence award presented to Riverside Police Detective and Founder of the Raincross Boxing Academy and Generation of Action Internship, Mario Dorado. The Woman of Excellence award will go to Kaiser Foundation Hospitals and Health Plan, Senior Vice President, Area Manager – Riverside County, Vita Willett.
“At the Gala The CARE Project will issue its largest grant of the year to a breast cancer patient in financial need. The Shannon K. Brown Grant is in memory of Mentor, Life Coach and volunteer, Shannon Brown who was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 34 and passed away at age 36,” said Madrid.
Carrie Madrid began non-profit The CARE Project Inc., two years after her own Stage III breast cancer diagnosis. As she survived the ordeal and met other breast cancer patients Madrid realized that there was a great need for a local organization to provide emotional and financial support to male and female breast cancer patients undergoing and recovering from treatment.
“While undergoing treatment and not working full time, we realize that everyday necessities become luxuries. We aim to help with those very needs”, said Madrid.

Financial Support includes: one-time grants for utility bills, rental assistance and co-pays. Uber, Lyft or Fuel cards to help with transportation to and from treatments. Gift cards for groceries and household items.
Emotional Support includes: Survivor Social Club, Survivor Mentorships and 24/7 text hotline.
The CARE Project also can provide compression garments for survivors suffering with lymphedema, mastectomy bras, chemo jackets and Chemo CARE Packages.
