“Our youth are in crisis, they are being influenced by many fronts to experiment with drugs and we will do all we can to help them combat bad information. Now more than ever drug use is promoted in music, movies and social media. We have to continue helping and mentoring our youth in making informed decisions,” Williams. San Bernardino, CA– San Bernardino, CA– Today, the Youth Action Project(YAP), a San Bernardino based non-profit organization, announced funding from the U.S. Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP)’s 2018 Mentoring Opportunity for Youth Initiatives grant program for $500,000.
In making the announcement YAP founder Joseph Williams was accompanied by Rep. Pete Aguilar (D- San Bernardino), Rialto Mayor Deborah Robertson and San Bernardino Mayor Carey Davis. The grant will allow YAP, Young Visionaries’Executive Director Terrance Stone, Sigma Beta Xi’sDirector Corey Jackson, and the Youth Action Mentoring Network– to detect and assist Inland Empire students who show risk factors for opioid abuse.
“Our region has not been immune to the nationwide opioid crisis, and too often when a young person in our community struggles with addiction, they have no clear place to turn. I’m grateful for the work of Youth Action Project to provide Inland Empire youth with the resources they need to lead happy and successful lives free from the weight of opioid addiction,” said Rep. Aguilar.
The OJJDP e3p3 Modeled Grant will include the City of Rialto, and middle and high schools in Rialto.
The e3p3 Model, created by M.H.M. & Associates (a professional grant firm) serves in creating strategically aligned public, private partnerships. This win affords the City of Rialto, students and their families in being one of the first that will benefit from the program efforts to dress the Opioid Crisis.
Rialto Mayor Deborah Robertson said, “Rialto continues to be a pioneer in moving initiatives forward that will empower our residents. The e3p3 Model, created by M.H.M. & Associates (a professional grant firm) serves in creating strategically aligned public, private partnerships. This win affords the City of Rialto, students and their families in being one of the first that will benefit from the program efforts to dress the Opioid Crisis.”
The project was one of 12 projects funded nationwide to provide mentoring to youth at-risk of Opioid abuse.
YAP, Young Visionaries and Sigma Beta Xi have all been funded under prior initiatives using the e3p3 Model, designed to accelerate grant resources into cities/regions, and were excited to see it work once again to further assist youth in the region.
Earlier this year, Rep. Aguilar’s office held a Federal Grants Workshop to highlight best practices and share strategies for success when applying for federal grants which was attended by a representative from YAP.
“Our youth are in crisis, they are being influenced by many fronts to experiment with drugs and we will do all we can to help them combat bad information. Now more than ever drug use is promoted in music, movies and social media. We have to continue helping and mentoring our youth in making informed decisions. The resources awarded by OJJDP will support our efforts to make sure the real winners are our youth,” said Joseph Williams President San Bernardino Community College Board District Board and YAP CEO.”
Today’s announcement comes just over one year since Rep Aguilar announced an additional $500,000 to combat the broader opioid crisis within the Inland Empire.

Inland Empire, CA – The Sean Flynn for Congress campaign released its first television commercial today. In the ad, 31st congressional district candidate Sean Flynn outlines his background and how he differs from his opponent, Representative Pete Aguilar. The ad, available here, began airing on local networks Thursday, September 6th. The transcript of the thirty-second ad can be found below:
Hi, I’m Sean Flynn. After immigrating here, my family relied on food stamps to get by. But with hard work, I earned a PhD and wrote a book on economics. Politicians should read it – especially politician Pete Aguilar.
He votes in lockstep with Washington insiders for higher taxes, and even wants to raise the gas tax. I’m Sean Flynn, and I approve this message because, unlike partisan Pete:
I’m not a politician.
I know how families struggle.
And I’ll make YOUR life more affordable.

Inland Empire, Calif.– The heroes of September 11th, 2001 include firefighters and police officers who showed their courage by running into flaming buildings to save those who they could. Private citizens who lead frightened people down dark staircases for dozens of flights. Some went back up those dangerous stars to lead more people to safety and never returned.
“The heroes of 9/11 include the passengers of the hijacked and doomed United Airlines Flight 93 from Newark to San Francisco who refused to be used as weapons against this nation. They sacrificed their lives to protect untold lives in Washington D.C.,” said Carl M. Dameron president of Dameron Communications.
“The men and women who died at the Pentagon and the twin towers in New York City were killed by cowards who used terror to attack this nation. The terrorist attempted to cause fear and division among us,” said Dameron. “Terrorist still don’t understand that Americans come together in crisis. We will not be intimidated by any terrorist.”
On December 2, 2015,14 peoplewere killed, and 22 others were seriously injured in a terrorist mass shooting at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino. “Again, our brave citizen heroes helped their fellow victims survive. Again, our law enforcement and firefighting heroes ran into danger to save people. Again, this nation found the terrorist responsible and brought them to justice,’ said Dameron.
“I celebrate the contribution of our heroes and morn the losses this nation experienced on September 11thand December 2nd. The United States I love, is place where we are not panicked by terror, but we come together to fight terrorist and injustice,’ said Dameron.
“The United States of America is a place that will not be bowed. We rebuilt on the site of the Twin Towers. We reopened the Inland Regional Center,” said Dameron. We work together to make life better an honor those who were murdered in the name of freedom.”

“I call on American patriots, both Democrats and Republicans, to ask Congress to enact measures to secure our elections from foreign mischief and to protect America’s digital infrastructure,” said Sean Masaki Flynn.
Inland Empire, Calif . There is no doubt. Russia interfered in 2016 election. I take issue with the President’s assertion yesterday that it may have been otherwise, and so does his own Director of National Intelligence, Dan Coates.
We must aggressively counter Russian spying and interference, not only in our election processes but across the full range of military and civilian spying operations that Russia is currently mounting against us.
These spying and disinformation operations were started in the 1920s by the old Soviet Union and were continued enthusiastically by Russian President Putin after he took control of Russia in 2000. They are the actions of an enemy and must be treated as such.
Consequently, President Trump’s comments at his press conference with Putin in Helsinki were disturbing on several fronts. First, they appear to be based on a failure to recognize Russia’s century old hostility toward the United States. Even more grave, his comments fail to reflect the justified suspicion and caution that our leadership should maintain in any and all diplomatic interactions with Russia given its long history of aggression against the United States, Ukraine, and the rest of the world.
Many U.S. Presidents have met with Soviet and Russian leaders. Roosevelt met with Stalin, as did Truman. Eisenhower met with Khrushchev, as did Kennedy. Nixon met with Brezhnev. Reagan with Gorbachev. George W. Bush and Barack Obama met with Putin. But all of them did so with the explicit acknowledgement that Russia and the Soviet Union were hostile to the interests of the United States.
President Donald Trump should trust his Director of National Intelligence about Russian responsibility for the hacks. The evidence is definitive. But that evidence is just a drop in the ocean when compared with the unceasing aggression that Russia has directed at us and the rest of the world for nearly a century.
A leopard does not change his spots. Putin remains a tyrant. And President Trump must respect history if he wants to dance with the Russian Bear.
I call on American patriots, both Democrats and Republicans, to ask Congress to enact measures to secure our elections from foreign mischief and to protect America’s digital infrastructure going forward. Russia is not the only threat, and we must be prepared for all comers and all methods of attack.

Sean Flynn and Tammi Martin-Riles President of the Black Chamber of Commerce at the Chambers Youth Summit.
From Sean Masaki Flynn, Candidate for the 31st Congressional District Inland Empire, Calif., While members of the U.S. House of Representatives do not vote on Supreme Court nominations, I of course take this process extremely seriously. I do not agree with all of his opinions, but I believe Judge Kavanaugh deserves a fair consideration by the U.S. Senate.
While I appreciate passion, it was hard to watch certain members of Congress join aggressive protests last night only seconds after the President announced his selection. If elected, my goal would be to dial back the harsh rhetoric, fear mongering and bitter partisanship that has defined Washington D.C. We can debate the merits of this selection, but elected officials should lead by example with regard to tone and rhetoric.
This is a contrast I draw in my race for Congress. We have seen my opponent, Congressman Aguilar time and again dip to new lows in his charged and over-the-top rhetoric.

From Sean Flynn, Candidate for the 31st Congressional District Inland Empire, Calif., The blatantly racist comments made by prosecutor Michael Selyem on Facebook and Twitter are unacceptable. Any person who holds and broadcasts such racist views does not belong in government. Unpaid leave is not enough.
