    Gala Raises Funds for Local Breast Cancer Survivors

    The Care Project Woman of Excellence award

    The Care Project Woman of Excellence award goes to Senior Vice President, Area Manager – Kaiser Foundation Hospitals and Health Plan – Riverside County Area, Vita Willett.

    Riverside, Calif.  – The CARE Project Inc. (TCP) hosts its annual Fundraising Gala, An Evening of Caring.  The Gala is a celebration of life and breast cancer survivorship.  The evening includes dinner, dancing and the 2018 Excellence Awards

    The Gala is Saturday, September 29 at the Marriott Grand Ballroom at 3400 Market Street in Downtown Riverside.  The Gala begins at 6:00 p.m. Tickets are $100.00 per person and go on sale August 1st at https://tcpgala.eventbrite.com.  You can also sponsor a survivor or simply donate to TCP using the same eventbrite link.

    The Care Project Man of Excellence award goes to Riverside Police Detective and Founder of the Raincross Boxing Academy and Generation of Action Internship, Mario Dorado.

    TCP excellence awards honorees include:  The Man of Excellence award presented to Riverside Police Detective and Founder of the Raincross Boxing Academy and Generation of Action Internship, Mario Dorado.  The Woman of Excellence award will go to Kaiser Foundation Hospitals and Health Plan, Senior Vice President, Area Manager – Riverside County, Vita Willett.

    “At the Gala The CARE Project will issue its largest grant of the year to a breast cancer patient in financial need.  The Shannon K. Brown Grant is in memory of Mentor, Life Coach and volunteer, Shannon Brown who was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 34 and passed away at age 36,” said Madrid. 

    Carrie Madrid began non-profit The CARE Project Inc., two years after her own Stage III breast cancer diagnosis.  As she survived the ordeal and met other breast cancer patients Madrid realized that there was a great need for a local organization to provide emotional and financial support to male and female breast cancer patients undergoing and recovering from treatment.  

    “While undergoing treatment and not working full time, we realize that everyday necessities become luxuries.  We aim to help with those very needs”, said Madrid.

    Financial Support includes: one-time grants for utility bills, rental assistance and co-pays.  Uber, Lyft or Fuel cards to help with transportation to and from treatments. Gift cards for groceries and household items.  
    Emotional Support includes: Survivor Social Club, Survivor Mentorships and 24/7 text hotline.
    The CARE Project also can provide compression garments for survivors suffering with lymphedema, mastectomy bras, chemo jackets and Chemo CARE Packages.

    Macy’s helps local charity raise funds and awareness for breast cancer patients undergoing and recovering from treatment through the national “Shop For A Cause” charity shopping event

    Riverside, Calif.– For the 2nd year, Macy’s is partnering with The CARE Project, Inc. and inviting customers to participate in Macy’s eleventh annual national “Shop For A Cause” charity shopping event, taking place Friday, Aug. 26 through Sunday, Aug. 28, 2016.

    Customers can begin purchasing shopping passes from The CARE Project, Inc. now. Macy’s “Shop For A Cause” is a unique shopping event dedicated to supporting local nonprofit organizations’ fundraising efforts.

    Formerly a one-day initiative, this year Macy’s has extended “Shop For A Cause” to a weekend-long event. Since 2006, the program has helped raise tens of millions of dollars for charities throughout the country, and more than 5,000 charities signed up to participate last year.

    “At Macy’s, we believe in supporting the communities where our customers and associates live and work,” said Holly Thomas, Macy’s group vice president of cause marketing. “That is why we are so proud of Shop For A Cause, which has helped raise tens of millions of dollars for charitable organizations since 2006.     The 2015 The CARE Project, Inc.’s, Woman of Excellence Award to be presented to Dr. Angela D. Martin – Physician In Charge at Kaiser Permanente, Meridian Clinic at the third annual Pink and White Celebration. The event honors Inland Empire breast cancer survivors and celebrates life on Sunday, October 4th at 5:00 p.m.

    “It’s the non-profit’s biggest fundraiser of the year,” said founder Carrie Madrid. “We are proud to have the event sponsored by D and D’s Dance Center and held in their beautiful ballroom at 1445 Spruce Street in Riverside,” she added.

    “This is the 3rd Annual Pink and White Celebration. The first two years were a huge success honoring many breast cancer survivors and raising breast cancer awareness throughout our community. Last year’s event was standing room only with more than 250 people in attendance. This year, reserved seating has been put in place and tickets will not be sold at the door,” said Madrid.

    Riverside’s Police and Fire department’s personnel and breast cancer awareness vehicles will be on site to welcome the honored survivors as they arrive.

    Entertainment for The 3rd Annual Pink and White Celebration includes: Special performance by jazz saxophonist and Riverside native, J. Anton Boykin; Special guest speaker, Evelyn Erives – 99.1 KGGI/iHeart Radio and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s 2010 Woman of the Year.

    Stage III breast cancer survivor, Carrie Madrid, founded The CARE Project to help support local patients, undergoing and recovering from Cancer treatment.

    The CARE Project provides gas cards, grocery gift cards, prepaid Visa cards for copays, utility bill assistance, Chemo “CARE” Packages, counseling and mentoring.

    Breast Cancer Awareness Honored with Actress Erika Ringor and Olympian Brigetta Barrett

    Riverside, CA – The 2nd Annual Pink & White Celebration is on Sunday, October 5, 2014 at D and D’s Dance Center in Riverside at 1445 Spruce Street. “We are honoring local breast cancer survivors and honor women who are positive role models relative to health & wellness,” said Carrie Madrid, breast cancer survivor, founder and CEO of Lady Huskies, Inc.

    This year a “Woman of Excellence Award” has been added to the 2nd Annual Pink & White Celebration.
    “The two honorees chosen this year have overcome adversity and excelled in their personal lives to not only achieve greatness, but have dedicated themselves to raising awareness of women’s health and wellness,” said  Madrid.

    Erika Ringor is known for her role in the motion picture Love & Basketball

    The honorees chosen are actress Erika Ringor and 2012 track Olympian Brigetta Barrett. Erika is known for her role in the motion picture Love & Basketball, among other movies and is now a Fitness and Health Coach for a major health and wellness company.

    Brigetta Barrett is a high jumper from the United States. Her biggest success is winning the silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. She is returning to the 2016 Olympics.
